Subterranean Termite Swarms in Spring and Summer
Warm spring rains trigger massive subterranean termite swarms across the Charlotte region. These swarming insects look like flying ants but have straight antennae and equal-length wings. They seek out damp wood in crawlspaces and foundations. To protect your home, keep mulch piles at least six inches below your siding and never stack firewood against your foundation. Ensure your crawlspace remains dry, as moisture in our red clay soil attracts termites directly to your sill plates.
